Small tattoo ideas
Small tattoos are the most popular first tattoo, and the most likely to blur. The trick is a simple silhouette, enough space inside the lines and a placement that doesn't rub all day.

Single-stem rose
A long stem with two leaves keeps the design open. Inner forearm or ankle, about 6–8 cm.
Crescent moon and star
Two shapes, almost no detail: one of the few designs that still reads clearly at 2 cm. Behind the ear or wrist.
Olive branch
A slight curve follows the bone of the wrist or collarbone. Keep at least 1 mm between leaves.
Tiny butterfly
Choose bold outer wings and skip fine inner patterns; they fill in over the years.
Paper plane
Clean triangles and a dotted trail. Works on the side of a finger, though finger tattoos fade faster.
Initials in typewriter font
Two letters, 1–1.5 cm tall, on the inner wrist. Try fonts with the Tattoo Font Generator first.
How it ages
Very small, detailed tattoos are the first to blur. If you love a design, go up one size: 8 cm instead of 5 keeps lines readable for decades. TattooLab's Aging Simulator shows how your exact design may look after 10, 20 and 30 years.
